THE LINSTER GORGOSAURUS - Two Medicine Formation, Wyoming USA
Late Cretaceous period (72 million years)

Discovered and collected by the Linster family in 1997, the Gorgosaurus is a slightly smaller and longer limbed cousin of the T. Rex. This superb specimen is one of the most complete skulls and skeletons for any therapod known to date. What makes this particular specimen so important is the many pathologies (evidence of disease or healed injuries) that tell a provocative story of it's life. These include broken and healed bones on the left leg and left shoulder, an active infection in the front of the lower jaw and most importantly the first ever documented case of a dinosaur with a brain tumour. The golf ball sized tumour appears as a spongy mass inside the skull cavity. This would have affected the animals balance explaining the many crippling wounds and fractures recorded in her skeleton.  This expertly built replica has been produced by casting each bone individually, hand painting them to the exact colour and finish of the original skeleton then re-assembling the bones within a hidden metal fame to bring this magnificent beast back to life .
